Spreading the Purim Joy
For the young and for the old, joyous Purim programs were held at the Chamah Center
In honor of the upcoming Purim holiday, parents and children came to the Chamah Center for the Purim costume lending program. Hundreds of costumes and accessories were displayed—hats, gloves, helmets and more—so every child could try on options and choose what they wanted to wear. Volunteers handled registration, set-up, and the steady work of hanging and organizing costumes so the visit flowed smoothly for families.

The program provides an affordable solution for families, as purchasing costumes for multiple children can quickly become a significant expense. The smiles on the children’s faces as they twirled in their new costumes said it all.

For seniors, a warm, joyous celebration took place at the Chamah Senior Center a few days prior to the holiday. Among the attendees were Holocaust survivors and World War II veterans.

Children came as guests, adding much joy. They gave the seniors pictures they drew at kindergarten, a collective Mishloach Manot Purim gift, and performed a delightful song and dance for the seniors. And the dancer Dorit Arubes held a special dance session for the attendees, which was then followed by festive sit down meal.

The event was also attended by municipality officials and our favorite community police officer Shlomi. ■
