An Exciting Day of Learning and History for Chamah Seniors
Seniors at the Chamah WWII Veterans & Holocaust Survivors Center took a memorable trip to the Babylonian Jewish Heritage Center in Ohr Yehuda.

The Center houses a Museum with permanent and rotating exhibits that showcase over 2,800 years of the history and culture of Jews from Babylonia (modern-day Iraq).
The Babylonian Jewish community traces its origins to Israel’s ancient exile, beginning with the Babylonian conquest of Judah in 586 BCE, when many Jews were deported after the destruction of the First Temple and established a community in Babylonia that persisted for over 2,600 years.

The Museum traces the development of communal, cultural, and religious life in Iraq and the broader diaspora. Ethnographic displays illustrate everyday life, customs, material culture, art, and traditions of Iraqi Jewish communities. In addition to visual exhibits, the Center preserves extensive archives of photographs, documents, manuscripts, music, and other materials that reflect the spiritual and cultural legacy of Babylonian Jewry.
Upon returning to the Chamah Center, seniors were welcomed with a freshly prepared lunch featuring a variety of salads, chicken and more, followed by a hot, flavorful tea to finish a memorable day.
The Chamah Center in Israel provides seniors with a supportive and engaging environment, offering programs, activities, and services that promote social connection and fostering a sense of community. ■
