Seder Events & Food Packages For Passover

Chamah in Russia Brings Holiday Essentials to Elderly Jews and their Families for the upcoming Passover holiday, and events were held for Beneficiaries and Staff

In the days leading up to Passover, Chamah in Russia distributed packages of kosher-for-Passover Matzah, wine, and essential food items to elderly Jews across Moscow. Many recipients are homebound or live with limited means—these deliveries ensure they can observe the holiday with dignity and the basic necessities.

The ongoing war between Russia and Ukraine has only deepened the challenges. Some of those receiving assistance have close family members affected by the conflict—displaced, serving on the front lines, or facing daily uncertainty.

For seniors able to leave their homes, Chamah held a communal Seder, offering not only a festive meal but also the warmth of companionship, teachings from the Rabbi, and a shared sense of freedom that Passover embodies.

A special pre-Pesach convention was also organized for the elderly, creating space for deeper learning about the holiday’s customs and meaning. Through educational sessions, traditional foods, and rituals, seniors had the chance to prepare both spiritually and emotionally in a welcoming, communal setting.

In addition, Chamah hosted a Pesach gathering for staff from both Chamah and the Joint—underscoring the holiday’s core values of helping others and passing down our heritage through shared learning. â–
