Passover appeal
B’H
Dear Friends,
As we prepare our homes for Passover, take a moment to imagine what it would be like to be forced to flee your home, leaving behind everything you know and love, and be left with nothing but uncertainty and fear. Olga and her 9 year-old son Yuri, need not imagine it. Nor does Svetlana, a widow, whose only son Boris, is on the front lines. For them it is the stark reality.
But amidst this turmoil and uncertainty, there is hope. Chamah, a humanitarian organization, is working tirelessly with volunteers of the Jewish community on the ground in Kishinev, Moldova. They meet the exhausted refugees at the border and transport them to warm hotel rooms, deliver hundreds of kosher meals daily prepared in their commercial kitchen, and provide the refugees with all their needs, including emergency medical care—all free of charge.
As Passover approaches, Chamah is preparing a traditional Passover Seder for 250 Jewish refugees, with matzah, wine and a festive dinner, to infuse some holiday cheer into their tragic lives. For many it will be the first Seder of their lives, and for some it will bring back warm memories of their childhood home. This is a truly special event, one that will provide a sense of community, connection, and belonging that is so desperately needed during times of crisis.
But Chamah cannot continue their lifesaving work without your help. The price of food and fuel have soared to all-time highs. They rely entirely on the generosity of donors like you. Without your support, refugees like Olga, Yuri and Svetlana would be alone.
Chamah offers a lifeline to those who have nowhere else to turn. They offer a listening ear, a shoulder to cry on, and practical support when it’s needed most. So, as you prepare for Passover, please remember those who have nothing. Please remember Olga and Yuri, Svetlana and all the other refugees who desperately need our help. Please donate to Chamah today and help them continue their vital work.
When you sit down to your own Seder, you will know that you brought a ray of sunshine into the life of a fellow Jew. Passover is almost here. Please make your kind donation today, your gift can reach Olga, Yuri and Svetlana even faster if you donate online at chamah.org/donate. Thank you for your compassion and generosity,
Sincerely,
Chamah
