Day camp in New York City

Public schools children are getting a chance to experience a Jewish summer day camp in Brooklyn.

Camp Gan Israel Chamah is currently running another season to help keep Jewish children in a warm, Jewish and healthy environment during the summer months.

In operation for 20 consecutive years, the day camp in Brooklyn, NY is part of the network of children's summer programs that Chamah subsidizes and runs in Israel, Russia, and in the U.S.

The purpose of the 7-week day camp located in the Manhattan Beach Jewish Center is to give Jewish children, many of them from non-affiliated homes, an opportunity to experience a safe, fun day camp while also learning about the richness and beauty of our Jewish history. Scholarships are provided by Chamah for many families who cannot afford to pay the regular price.

The camp is directed by Rabbi Efraim and Hannah Zaltzman, Rabbi and Rebbetzin of Young Israel of Brighton Beach.

The children enjoy swimming, sports, arts and crafts, Karate, aerobics, chess club, great trips and much more.

Many children attend public school year-round. As a result of these children's enriching Jewish experiences at Gan Israel Chamah, families have become more involved with their local Jewish communities.
