A Joyful 8th Night
The final night of Chanukah was celebrated in joyful spirit at the Chamah Cummunity Center in Israel
The 8th night of Chanukah in Kiryat Malachi, Israel, brought together many immigrants for a truly inspiring holiday celebration.
The evening began with the lighting of the Chanukah menorah, accompanied by the miraculous story of the Chanukah victory by the Jews against the Greeks in Jerusalem, over two thousand years ago. As we reflected on the miraculous victory of the Maccabees, we couldn’t help but draw parallels to the events in Israel today, a nation that has faced over 30,000 missiles, drones, and attacks this past year and still stands strong.
The atmosphere was filled with warmth as participants enjoyed a festive meal, sharing laughter and conversation around beautifully set tables. A heartfelt singing performance of traditional Hebrew Chanukah songs and beloved Russian melodies added to the evening’s spirit, connecting past and present in a harmony of shared heritage.
For everyone in attendance, this night was a celebration for the miracles we continue to witness, the strength of community, and the light that shines even in challenging times. ■
